Bilingualism
Plaid Cymru ’s heritage is rooted in the campaign for the development of the Welsh language, and in ensuring that Welsh is made an official language in Wales to create a truly bilingual Wales. The One Wales Government has sought more powers from Westminster with regards to the Welsh language, and now there is a consultation on this at measure stage at the National Assembly for Wales- discussing the introduction of a Language Commissioner and rights for those who speak Welsh.
Plaid Cymru has also signed up to establishing a Welsh Federal College to ensure that those who wish to study through the medium of Welsh in Universities across Wales can do so with ease, and as a fundamental right.
