Child Poverty
I am the Child Poverty spokesperson for the Plaid Cymru Assembly group. I have regular meetings with the Minister with responsibility for Child Poverty, Dr Brian Gibbons AM as well as with charities that specialise in child poverty. I am also seeking to visit organisations and groups all over Wales that are active in their work to eradicate child poverty. I have convened meetings with colleagues in Westminster with regards child poverty and with foundations such as the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. The One Wales Government document clearly highlights our party’s commitment to working to eradicate child poverty here in Wales. In light of the current economic climate, I have called on the Government to set up a child poverty summit in Wales to discuss the impact of the recession in Wales on children.
